ALEXANDER MCQUEEN - S/S 1999

Alexander McQueen his shows are - or were - theatrical, we all know that. We have the s/s 1997 show where guests hid their eyes at some parts during the show, the s/s 1995 show where models were bound in scotch tape, his bumster pants from s/s 1994 and so on and so forth. But my favourite is actually the S/S 1999 show, 'No. 13'

It is such a beautiful show, everything was perfect. The show started with Aimee Mullin wearing prosthetic legs, she was the first amputee to ever be on a catwalk.

Aimee Mullin
But the most beautiful moment in the S/S 1999 show was the end, where model Shalow Harlow was standing on a little platform wearing a beautiful white dress, that was spray painted by two robots on the catwalk.

McQueen made art ON the catwalk. Fantastic, isn't it? In my opinion, he'll stay one of the best and most controversial designers ever. And if you haven't seen all of his shows, you should do it (The S/S 1994 is beautiful too)! You'll be surprised, his shows were theatrical, controversial and beautiful.

XOXO
